Alcoholism is a progressive disease that affects 10 percent of Americans, according to the National Institute of Health. It leaves millions in a state of hopelessness as they lose control over their lives. The saddest part of it all is that most who suffer from alcoholism don’t even realize they have a problem. It can often be a very hard pill to swallow because millions still choose to stand by their right to have a drink. Sadly, many alcoholics won stop drinking until they have hit rock bottom and are desperate enough to make a change.
At Sovereign Health, we offer a comprehensive and individualized treatment program for your better recovery from alcohol addiction.
Alcohol detox
Alcohol detoxification is the first step in recovery from alcohol addiction. This process involves cleansing of the body through abrupt cessation of alcohol consumption and medications to control the withdrawal symptoms. All this takes place under medical supervision. In addition to this, we also provide training and education about the alcohol problem and the importance of joining a rehab.
As a part of our alcohol detox program, we offer two therapies- NTR or Neurotransmitter Restoration and NAD or Naturally-Assisted Rapid Detox. While NTR helps in restoring and repairing the brain damage caused by alcohol abuse, the NAD therapy helps in managing the withdrawal symptoms and eliminate cravings.
Counseling
In the process of recovery, counseling helps in achieving strength to overcome the problem and become sober. In this, a qualified professional or a psychotherapist helps you to learn about the repercussions of alcohol consumption and skills to reduce the chances of relapse. Apart from this, there are group and individual therapy sessions that improve the chances of recovery. In Group Counseling, you can empathize with and learn from the experience of other patients around you who are struggling in the same way. In Individual Therapy or Counseling, a mental health professional conducts a one to one session with you and helps you in learning the coping strategies for alcohol cravings. Specializing in dual diagnosis, we offer treatment not just for addiction but also for any underlying disorder. This supports you in the recovery phase and reduces the chances of relapse too.
Aftercare
Even after the detoxification and counseling, the treatment doesn’t stop. With Sovereign’s TEAM (Technology Enhanced Aftercare and Monitoring Program) program, we ensure you receive constant care after you have completed your rehab program. Under this aftercare program, we educate you on recovery skills to improve your recovery. We also teach you about the coping strategies, ways to prevent relapse and handle stress and anger. With our excellent aftercare program, it becomes easy for you to reintegrate back into the society and stay sober and healthy all your life.
Signs and Symptoms of alcoholism
Alcoholism is a serious problem that should be addressed as soon as possible. To find help though one must first be able to recognize when there is a problem. Some common signs to look for if you suspect someone is struggling with alcoholism are:

In serious cases of alcoholism, patients can experience severely painful withdrawal symptoms. This extreme withdrawal can be life-threatening if not treated properly. Some of these withdrawal symptoms can include:
- Shaky hands
- Profuse sweating
- Anxiety
- Agitation
- Nausea and vomiting
- Headaches
- Insomnia
Many alcoholics may experience delirium tremens, a symptom that should be treated immediately if noticed. They can be life-threatening and usually occur between 48 and 72 hours after the last drink. Some symptoms associated with delirium tremens are:
- Visual and/or audio hallucinations
- High blood pressure

Addressing alcohol addiction
When approaching someone who struggles with alcohol addiction, it’s important to make it known that you are coming from a place of love and concern. Millions of Americans struggle with alcoholism and never get the treatment that they need and deserve. What’s important is that they know there is hope and a way out.
Alcoholism is serious condition that could necessitate intervention, medically assisted detox and further treatment. Detoxing from alcohol can be life threatening if not treated properly and it should be conducted in a medically assisted and monitored environment. Medically assisted detox facilities often implement the use of medications to ease the pain of alcohol withdrawal symptoms and prevent seizures from occurring.
After completing a detox, it is advised that one would attend an inpatient alcohol treatment program in which patients have access to recovery groups, therapy sessions and 12-step based recovery support groups. Residential treatment programs are an effective method of helping patients focus on their recovery while participating in recovery groups that offer support.
Sovereign Health Group offers various inpatient and outpatient program options for those who struggle with addiction, mental health disorders and dual diagnosis. If you or someone you know is struggling with alcoholism, please contact us at for more information.
